A. BRANDT VAWTER

After earning a BS in Economics from Texas Christian University, Brandt has worked in oil and gas, and real estate in varying roles ever since.  Prior to founding Monticello Investments and Monticello Real Estate, Brandt worked in escalating levels of land at large US independent oil and gas companies. Then founded and sold a private non-operated oil and gas company, Deep Creek Resources, LLC.

Brandt stepped away from Monticello in 2019 when he was called to serve the State of Oklahoma. The Governor of Oklahoma appointed Brandt as Acting Secretary of the Commissioners of the Land Office.  As chief officer of the State of Oklahoma’s largest asset, Secretary Vawter lead a team of 65 employees that managed $2.5 billion of equity investments, the largest mineral ownership (1.1 million acres) and surface ownership (750 thousand acres), and a $100 million commercial real estate portfolio (won the CREC Brokers Award for the 2019 Industrial Sale Transaction of the Year) while generating over $130 million in profit for the benefit of Oklahoma public schools. While reporting to a board comprised of the Oklahoma Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of Education, Secretary of Agriculture, and the State Auditor, Brandt also worked with state legislators on potential new real estate and oil and gas laws for Oklahoma.

Brandt has served on the board of multiple oil and gas associations, including serving on the Board of Advisors for the Energy Management School at the University of Oklahoma.
